Nicole Barakat, PsyD

Owner, SC Licensed psychologist

Certified School Psychologist III

Nicole has devoted her career to helping kids and families with mental health and behavioral needs. Her own parents’ divorce at the age of 18 pushed her to want to better understand the impact of mental health issues on family relationships, and led her to become a marriage and family therapist in 2004. Nicole worked in community mental health settings for five years, always providing supports to families and children seeking help with mental health and behavioral issues. After she obtained a doctoral degree in school psychology, she spent ten years working in public schools with children with autism, behavioral problems and learning disabilities, developing behavior plans and conducting psychological evaluations. Having children in her own family with ADHD has deepened her compassion for parents of children with mental health needs, who often struggle to find help, even when they have already been to the doctor, the school, and have exhausted their resources trying to do the best for their child.
