Child and Family Therapist Job Description
Learning Curve Child and Family Psychology is a private mental health practice dedicated to providing child-centered and family therapy and psychological evaluations to families who are seeking help with understanding their child’s diagnosis, improving behavior, and obtaining treatment for a variety of common child mental health conditions including ADHD, Autism, trauma and anxiety.
Our mission is to provide compassionate mental health services to families and children in the Grand Strand. We strive to ensure that therapy and psychological assessments are conducted with integrity, using proven techniques for diagnosis and intervention that identify the cause of symptoms and improve behavior. Our goal is for families and children to experience high quality treatment that leaves them with more satisfying relationships and a positive outlook on the future.
We are seeking a skilled and empathic Child and Family Therapist who is passionate about providing therapeutic services to a diverse client population, including individuals, children and families. The ideal candidate will have training and/or experience in using evidence based practices pertaining to play therapy, child behavior, parenting, and common childhood mental health conditions including autism, ADHD/ODD, anxiety, and trauma. Psychological assessment training is a bonus. As one of the first therapists in our growing practice, you will play a key role in shaping the culture and success of our practice, contributing to a supportive and collaborative work environment.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide individual, child, and/or family therapy using evidence-based practices.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop personalized treatment plans for each client.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to meet therapeutic goals.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, when appropriate, to ensure integrated care for clients.
- Uphold ethical and legal standards in all aspects of practice, including client confidentiality.
- Participate in regular supervision and staff meetings to enhance clinical skills and contribute to the practice's development.
- Stay current with industry best practices, continuing education, and licensure requirements.
**Qualifications:**
- Master’s degree or higher in psychology, mental health counseling, social work, school psychology, marriage and family therapy or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of post-graduate clinical experience.
-Associate level license is required.
- Experience with diverse client populations and a wide range of mental health issues.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in maintaining electronic health records.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to ethical guidelines.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Specialized training or certification in areas such as ADHD/Autism, DBT, PCIT, family therapy, and/or child/adolescent therapy.
-Specialized training in psychological assessment.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills.
